Updated on November 13: We've updated our best heroes tier list to accomodate all the balance changes since the the game's launch. We've also added additional details regarding our reasoning for each part of the tier list. This includes buffs to Baek Buyong, as well as two new heroes added, Hansu and Soha.
NCSOFT caved and made a team-based tactics Gacha game (we're drowning in these), but it's pretty good, and I'm here to show you the best heroes in Blade and Soul Heroes. All heroes are quite good in at least one game mode, so the strongest ones are actually those that are good for most or all game modes. Here's my Blade and Soul Heroes tier list based on team role compositions, elements, and overall power.
Important: As with any live service game (and especially with gacha MMOs) the meta constantly evolves as new heroes are added and balance changes are introduced. What worked in the previous patch might not work a week from now. In addition, it’s important to understand that skill and personal preference play a major role. If a B-tier team suits your playstyle better, it may be a better pick for you than a Tier 0 team that simply isn’t clicking.
Blade and Soul Heroes Hero Tier List

Version 2.2.0 Update: For this update, our Tier 0 heroes are Myo, Gwen, Hongbi, Guho, Yura, Mushin, Furin, and Salkhi. We place Myo in Tier 0 for her phenomenal damage output and overall versatility. Gwen is arguably the best CC support in the game and the strongest Water hero. The same applies to Hongbi when it comes to Fire.
As for defense, there’s no better pick than Guho or Furin, thanks to their extra healing support and some very juicy buffs. Yura starts off weak, but it quickly turns into a scaling powerhouse, rightly being the leader among Poison heroes. If you want a beginner-friendly hero who can quickly clear dungeons, go with Mushin due to his powerful AoE abilities.
There are so many heroes in Blade and Soul Heroes that I had to do three tier lists to cover everything well. Here's how the Hero system works: Basically, I cannot do a traditional tier list since all the Heroes can be suitable for certain game modes. Therefore, calling a Hero the most powerful in the game would be misleading since what someone would consider the weakest hero can be quite strong for a single game mode. That said, the rankings I chose rely on the strongest and highest-rated Heroes being powerful in as many game modes as possible, with:
- Tier 0 & Tier 1: These two Tiers are currently the strongest characters for Leaders and/or within their role/element that are good for any mode in the game.
- Tier 2 & Tier 3: These are good for most modes and require a bit of team-building around elements, or are fillers if your 5-man team lacks a DPS or Support. They're usually not the best leaders.
- Tier 4: These are picks that are only really good in one mode.
Below, I'll talk about the best teams in Blade and Soul Heroes by analyzing the best Heroes by Role and Element.

Blade and Soul Heroes: Best Heroes Ranked by Element

The meta in this game is to build teams around elemental synergies. Here you can check out the best heroes in Blade and Soul Heroes for these team comps, and then you can fill in the blanks with Supports and other DPS heroes from the tier list above. Here are my recommendations for each element:
- Best Fire Team: Fire is really easy to build and use as a beginner, and I would without a doubt put Sehwa as the leader and then do Sansu, Ukaha, Chawoong/Hongbi, and Uwon/Boryn.
- Best Poison Team: Poison is quite strong and also easy to build around Yura/Seomyeong with Ashjaw, Yonkai, Dark Striker, and a support.
- Best Lightning Team: Inlang as leader, Salkhi, Golden Deva, Choi Jina, and a support.
- Best Dark Team: Go for Mushin as leader and then Gwihan, Dura, Ayura, and a support.
- Best Water Team: Water is less plentiful on good picks like Dark, but a good team would be Yusol/Harin, then Gwen and Gwon with a filler, and then Boryn.
Blade and Soul Heroes: Best Heroes Ranked by Role

Your team composition consists of a Leader and then four members, out of which I would put 3 DPS and 1 Support. Of course, there's no set rule apart from the Leader, but in general, you want at least one healer/support/defender and then fill the three positions with DPS. Here are the best Heroes by role in Blade and Soul Heroes.
Blade and Soul Heroes FAQ
For Fire, I would without a doubt put Sehwa as leader and then do Sansu, Ukaha, Chawoong/Hongbi, and Uwon/Boryn.
Water is a bit niche on picks, but a good team would be Yusol/Harin, then Gwen and Gwon with a filler, and then Boryn.
This is one of the easier set-ups to do, like Fire, and it's quite strong. Use Inlang leader, Salkhi, Golden Deva, Choi Jina, and a support.
Go for Mushin as the leader and then Gwihan, Dura, Ayura, and a support.
Build around Yura/Seomyeong with Ashjaw, Yonkai, Dark Striker, and a support.
In our opinion, the current best heroes are Myo, Gwen, Hongbi, Guho, Yura, Mushin, Furin, and Salkhi.
Yes, the game regularly adds new heroes, including both permanent and limited-time ones.
