Call of Duty Vanguard comes with seven core Multiplayer game modes at launch. These modes will be playable on a variety of 16 maps developed by Sledgehammer Games. Here's a list of all confirmed multiplayer maps arriving with Call of Duty: Vanguard at launch.
- Search and Destroy
- An objective-based game mode where attackers have to plant explosives on one of the two designated sites. Defenders prevent this from happening by either eliminating all attackers or defusing the bomb once planted. There are no respawns until the round ends.
- Team Deathmatch
- Fight against the opponent team with an objective to eliminate as many enemies as possible. The first team to kill the required number of enemies wins. If time runs out, the team with most the kills wins.
- Domination
- Compete with the opposing team for control of the three zones marked on the map. Score is earned by capturing these control points. Capture the majority of the zones for a higher score.
- Free for All
- Solo game mode in which the first player to reach the specified amount of kills wins. If time runs out, the player with the most kills wins.
- Kill Confirmed
- Works similar to Team Deathmatch but points are granted only when the dog tag is collected from fallen enemies' bodies. Collect dog tags from fallen teammates to prevent the opposing team from scoring.
- Hardpoint
- Similar to domination but there is only one rotating capture point. The objective area—Hardpoint—keeps changing every minute and moves on its predetermined path. Score is earned by capturing the zone.
- Patrol
- Similar to Hardpoint but the capture point is continuously moving throughout the map on its fixed path. Score is earned by capturing the zone.

An additional mode—Champion Hill—will be playable on a different set of maps. Champion Hill was first featured in the Vanguard Alpha and Beta. Here's the gist of what to expect from the new game mode.
Invite your Duo, form your Trio, or go solo as you build a Loadout in this fast-paced, limited-life mode. Earn Cash by picking up drops, eliminating enemies, and winning rounds, then spend it on upgrading weaponry or getting new armaments, equipment, Perks, or tide-turning Killstreaks.
