Onslaught in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War is a fast-paced Zombies game mode that takes place on Multiplayer maps. After spawning, you have to fill the Orb Power meter to 100 to complete a Surge and proceed to the next one. Orb Power is collected by killing Zombies.
As the Surge level increases, Zombies contribute fewer points to the Orb Power, which means you have to kill more Zombies. The play area or safe zone relocates after the completion of each Surge. Furthermore, Elite Zombies spawn after every three Surges, and killing them gives you high-tier loot.
Onslaught Zombies has several variations that the developers add to the playlist as limited-time modes (LTMs). Here's how different Onslaught LTMs work in Black Ops Cold War Zombies.
Onslaught Mystery Munitions
In this specific mode, players spawn on the map with a random weapon. This weapon is changed to another randomized one after every Surge is completed. The remaining aspects of the gameplay will stay the same.
Onslaught Accelerated
In Onslaught Accelerated, the Orb doesn't remain stationary. A constantly moving safe zone compels you to keep running and eliminate Zombies simultaneously. The most interesting part about this mode is that the Orb movement is unpredictable in that it sometimes moves slowly and other times repositions at speed.
Onslaught Diminishing Light
The Aethereal Orb is slowly being diminished in this game mode. This caused the safe zone to shrink steadily. Once the Orb Power meter is full and the Surge is complete, the safe zone regains its normal size and starts shrinking again. The goal here is to eliminate Zombies as fast as possible so that the zone doesn't kill you.
Onslaught Elite
As the name implies, in Onslaught Elite, an Elite Zombie spawns every Surge round. You'll also find a few regular Zombies at every level, but killing the Elite is your main objective. This makes the game even more fast-paced than the other variations.
Onslaught Containment
Onslaught Containment takes place on smaller Multiplayer maps that are used in the Gunfight game modes. The first key difference here is that the Orb and safe zone are stationary since the map is small. Secondly, you don't have the option to choose the map in this mode.
