Aim Assist in MW2 and Warzone 2 can be broken down into two broad types: rotational aim assist and slowdown aim assist. Rotational aim assist is triggered by the Left Analogue Stick and comes into play when aiming at a target with hip-fire at close range. On the other hand, slowdown aim assist is triggered when you use the Right Analogue Stick to aim at a target with ADS. With that said, the following are all the Aim Assist Types in MW2 and Warzone 2 and how they work.

  • Default - This is the aim assist type enabled by default in MW2 and Warzone 2. It features a good amount of rotational aim assist and slowdown aim assist, with the latter increasing in strength as you get closer to a target.
  • Precision - This aim assist type is more suited for skilled controller players. It does not feature rotational aim assist. However, it features a strong slowdown aim assist that kicks in when accurately aiming at a target.
  • Focusing - The Focusing aim assist type works similarly to Precision but is tailored for players new to controllers. It features a strong slowdown aim assist, triggered even if players miss aiming at their target by small margins. It does not feature rotational aim assist.
  • Black Ops - As the name implies, this aim assist setting works exactly as the traditional Black Ops aim assist. Similar to Default, it features both rotational aim assist and slowdown aim assist.
