No, Simon "Ghost" Riley doesn't die in Modern Warfare 3 and you can expect to see the character reappear in the near future, perhaps even in a standalone CoD Ghosts game at some point. You'll see him in the final cutscene before the credits roll, alongside Gaz and Captain Price. Unfortunately, Ghost's best mate doesn't make it to the end.
Does Soap die in Modern Warfare 3?
Yes, John "Soap" MacTavish loses his life trying to save Price in the final mission of the Modern Warfare 3 Campaign. Makarov shoots Soap in the skull but before he can finish the job, Ghost and Gaz come to the rescue and drive away the Ultranationalist terrorist and his PMC. Alas, I had to bid farewell to Sgt. Soap, after witnessing his death back in the original MW3 (2009).
