Frustrations mounting over MW3 and Warzone cheating: “There’s one in every game”

Cheaters are running rampant since the new update!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone has finally been added to Xbox Game Pass with the recent Season 5 update. Players have been eagerly waiting to see Call of Duty games on the subscription model for a long time, but this may have resulted in a rise in the number of cheaters now that the game is more easily accessible.

The community has reported a massive surge in hacker encounters after the big update. Ricochet (Call of Duty's anti-cheat system) is still in place, but apparently third-party cheat software seems to bypass it easily. Additionally, we can speculate cheaters who were previously banned permanently from the game are now using another client (Xbox App) to log into and play MW3 on their computers.

User CongratsMate commented on the above Reddit post that they have had cheaters in their lobby all night. The hacker had an account level under 50 and seemed incredibly good at the game, which is unlikely for a new player. Cheaters can use wallhacks to spot enemies through objects and toggle aimbot that allows them to hit their shots with 100 percent accuracy without any need to aim at the target.

You can see a video example of the cheating in action above from one user who posted a clip of ranked play in Warzone. During his match, a hacker was running loose on Rebirth Island with their Sidewinder Battle Rifle. If you encounter a similar situation, make sure to report the player as several flags will force the anti-cheat to shadowban the hacker and even permanently ban them.

Hopefully Activision will acknowledge and start taking measures on this issue soon. Recently, a big cheat provider for CoD (Raging Nation) was shut down after a legal notice from the publisher, so this is definitely a step in the right direction. Meanwhile, console players can try disabling crossplay so that they're not matched with PC, potentially reducing the amount of cheaters per session.
