Modern Warfare 3 Zombies and Multiplayer introduced a new tactical stance mechanic to the game. To promote this feature the developers have even added camo challenges that ask you to get tactical stance kills.
Tac stance is basically your character holding the gun in a position that's midway between aim-down-sight (ADS) and hipfire, similar to the canted lasers from MW2. It's meant to provide better accuracy than hipfiring the weapon in specific scenarios like pushing a building.
How to get kills while in tactical stance in Modern Warfare 3 Zombies
To get kills while in tactical stance in MWZ, press the ADS + Down Button on the D-pad on a controller and ADS + Melee (V) on a keyboard. Tac stance activation can be seen in the image I've attached above. The iron sights icon at the bottom also indicates if you have it enabled.
The best way to get tactical stance kills in MW3 Multiplayer is in the Hardcore playlist because the TTK is low and you can kill enemies in much fewer bullets than regular 6v6 modes. Furthermore, you should put on attachments that improve tactical stance spread, like the VX Pineapple underbarrel (see image).

How to change Tactical Stance Settings in MW3 Zombies
To change the tactical stance setting, go to Settings > Controller / Keyboard & Mouse > Gameplay > Combat Behaviours. Select Tactical Stance Activation and choose the preferred option:
- Controller
- Off
- ADS + Sprint
- ADS + Melee
- ADS + Down Button (default input)
- Double-tap ADS
- Keyboard & Mouse
- Off
- ADS + Sprint
- ADS + Melee (default input)
- ADS + Down Button
- Double-tap ADS
You can also modify the Tactical Stance Behavior option to set how long the stance remains active. By default, it's set to On Toggle, which keeps tac stance until you press the input again. But you can change tac stance to On Respawn to keep it until death or Once if you want it active until the release of ADS input. I suggest sticking with the default settings while you're completing any challenges.
