Last year's Haunting of Verdansk Halloween Event received a reboot in 2021. Call of Duty The Haunting Event brings new limited-time rewards and game modes starting October 19.
Warzone is getting a new Battle Royale game mode — Ghosts of Verdansk — similar to the fan-favorite Zombie Royale mode. The new exclusive mode takes place in a nighttime environment. Keep reading to see how Ghosts of Verdansk plays in Warzone.
Players drop into an altered-setting Battle Royale match. There is no Gulag, so when you die, you turn into a Ghost. Instead of carrying weapons, Ghosts possess some powerful abilities, which are:
- Super Jump - Ghosts can take a giant leap by charging their super jump. Furthermore, they glide upon impact with the ground. The cooldown for this power is fast.
- Teleport - Ghosts can also teleport from one place to another but only over a short distance. The cooldown for this power is slow.
- Spectral Blast - This works similar to an EMP blast shockwave and disables nearby vehicles. Ghosts can also stun players using this power.
To spawn back as a survivor, Ghosts need to collect three souls. A player drops a soul when he is killed by any means. So being a Ghost, your objective is to kill surviving operators and collect their souls.

Available souls will be highlighted on the Ghosts' map. Ghosts can also grab the souls of operators they didn't kill. There's another quick way Ghosts can respawn into operators — by performing a finishing move onto the living players.
The Ghosts of Verdansk mode also features safe havens for operators called Sacred Ground. A unique mark on the mini-map identifies these areas. Sacred Grounds are also visible as a blue circle emitting a light beam.
Ghosts cannot enter this holy ground for quite a while. However, they can damage, shrink and destroy the zone over time.
The bottom-left part of the HUD features a Fear Meter, ranging from 0—100 points. Players experience hallucinations and jumpscares when the meter goes beyond 50 points. The last surviving members' team wins Ghost of Verdansk BR.
A familiar voice will also “guide” you and the squad through this mode, but he may not be the most helpful or friendly face behind the radio… or phone, for that matter.

Fear Meter increases due to the following reasons:
- Sitting idle, or as most players like to call it — Camping.
- Taking damage from enemies.
- When enemies use a killstreak such as UAV.
- Seeing Ghosts or dead enemies.
- When a teammate gets downed or dies.
Fear Meter decreases when you:
- Experience hallucinations.
- Eliminate an enemy player or Ghost.
- Finish a contract such as Bounty, Scavenger, etc.
- Revive a teammate.
- Stay within an active Sacred Ground.
