Is the BlackCell Battle Pass worth it in Modern Warfare 2?

BlackCell operatives incoming!

With Modern Warfare 2's Season 3 comes a new Battle Pass to grind out and invest in. However, unlike the previous two seasons, Activision Blizzard is introducing a new type of Battle Pass called the BlackCell Battle Pass. While it is functionally similar to what we've seen in the past, there are some key differences that are of note. As such, here's everything you need to know about the BlackCell Battle Pass and if it's worth your hard-earned cash in Modern Warfare 2.

Is the CoD BlackCell Pass Worth Buying in MW2 Season 3?

To begin, the BlackCell Pass is entirely replacing the Battle Pass Bundle in both Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2, and Warzone 2 DMZ once Season 3 begins. It will essentially be the highest-tier Battle Pass option that you can purchase across both entities. However, where the question of value comes into question is how it is obtained.

The BlackCell Pass cannot be purchased with COD points, unlike previous versions of the pass. This means that saving up COD points from previous seasons is no longer a viable option for paying for the next pass. You must spend $30 dollars to purchase this pass as of Season 3.

If you're someone who really enjoys cosmetics, or really like playing Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone on a consistent basis, then you might find some value in this pass, as it does contain a lot of goodies. However, if you're not into cosmetics at all, then we think the BlackCell pass is not worth spending money on. What you get from buying this pass is practically all cosmetics. You will still get skips that will allow you to progress through the Battle Pass more quickly, but this really doesn't matter due to the long length of seasons anyway. We don't recommend it, especially since you cannot purchase it with COD points anymore.

What is the Call of Duty BlackCell Premium Pass in MW2 Season 3

Despite our recommendation, the BlackCell Pass does come with a large number of goodies that may be worth your time, again, if you are a consistent player or love playing around with cosmetics. The BlackCell Pass offers the following:

  • Full Access to the Season 3 Battle Pass
  • 20 Tier Skips (25 on Playstation)
  • 1,100 COD Points awarded on purchase
  • 1,400 COD Points awarded throughout Battle Pass completion
  • A BlackCell Operator with an animation Camo skin
  • A Pro-Tuned Weapon Blueprint, Vehicle Skin, and a Finish Move
  • An exclusive BlackCell Sector on the Season 3 Battle Pass
  • Instant unlocking of Battle Pass sectors next to the BlackCell Sector
  • Exclusive BlackCell-only Battle Pass Content

The exclusive BlackCell content is specifically for Operators located in the Season 3 Battlepass. Each one will have a BlackCell variant that is only available to BlackCell owners.
