Who owns Call of Duty?

If you are wondering who currently owns Call of Duty, it is Activision Blizzard, but not for long. In short, Microsoft purchased Activision Blizzard for a total of $68.7 billion in a recent deal that will be finalized in 2023

Because of this recent deal, the ownership of Call of Duty will eventually shift from Activision Blizzard to the industry giant Microsoft. What this spells for the future of the Call of Duty series is currently unknown, and all we can do is speculate. 

We imagine Call of Duty will become an even bigger title on Xbox systems and may also see content appearing on the Behemothic Xbox Game Pass.

On the other hand, we feel it's unlikely that Call of Duty will turn into a full-on Xbox exclusive because of a recent Microsoft press release statement.

"Activision Blizzard games are enjoyed on a variety of platforms and we plan to continue to support those communities moving forward."

Microsoft clarified that they plan to continue support for various Blizzard games on various platforms in the statement above. Call of Duty also has a large following across multiple platforms, so it would likely fall under a community that Microsoft will continue supporting.
