Will MW3 be on Game Pass?

With the Activision-Blizzard and Microsoft merger finalized, many people are wondering if Modern Warfare 3 will be hitting Xbox Game Pass. If you're waiting for that to happen, you might not want to hold your breath.

Is Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) coming to Game Pass?

Modern Warfare 3 may fall under the Microsoft umbrella with the merger, and we have seen first-party games come to Game Pass, but MW3 is looking like it'll be an exception at first. Activision said they see the excitement from fans about the possibility of the series going to Game Pass, but Modern Warfare 3 and Diablo 4, their two recent games, won't be making the leap right away. Activision confirmed there are no plans to add MW3 to Game Pass in 2023.

There's a chance we'll be seeing it hit the service in 2024, but we'll be much closer to the release of the next game in the franchise by the time that happens. If you want to play MW3 on Xbox, your best bet is to purchase it outright when it comes out.

When will Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) be on Game Pass?

Activision's statement makes it sound like the earliest MW3 and other Call of Duty games will be joining Game Pass will be in 2024. It'll certainly happen at some point, but you'll probably have to buy the games if you want to play them for the foreseeable future.

The same thing can be said for other Activision franchises like Diablo, Starcraft, and Warcraft. We'll be seeing those join Game Pass in the future, but the wait might be longer than expected. There's still a lot that has to go on behind the scenes.
