How to recruit Kid in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition

Chrono Cross follows Serge, a teenage boy who becomes swept up in a story of parallel worlds and inter-dimensional threats. While attempting to uncover the truth of his past, Serge will gain many different allies to help him in his journey, each with their own rich backstories and motivations. There are a total of 45 playable characters in Chrono Cross, meaning you'll have plenty of options to form the perfect team. For this guide we'll be looking at the swashbuckling heroine of Chrono Cross—Kid. Here's how to recruit Kid in Chrono Cross: The Radical Dreamers Edition.

Where to find and recruit Kid

To recruit this foul-mouthed thief to your party, you'll first have to fight alongside her in Cape Howl against one of the Four Devas, Karsh, and the Shaker Brothers, Solt and Peppor. Following the battle, Kid will offer to team up with Serge on his quest to find answers about the strange world he finds himself in. If you agree, Kid will join your crew and prevent Leena from joining your party altogether.

If you refuse her offer of teaming up, however, you'll run into Kid later on in the port-side town of Termina. If you've already recruited Leena, talking to the local statue polisher will cause Kid to express her desire to accompany Serge to Viper Manor, joining your party in the process. If you haven't recruited Leena to your roster, Kid will automatically join your party upon speaking with her in Termina.

Kid's abilities

This swashbuckling heroine wields daggers in combat, preferring to get up close and personal when taking out her enemies. Her innate element is Red, the elemental color closely associated with fire and lava, meaning she'll benefit the party most when facing off against opponents with an innate Blue element. Befitting a thief, Kid has access to the Pilfer tech, allowing her to steal valuable loot from enemies in the midst of battle and add it to your inventory.

On the other hand, Kid is capable of dealing a significant amount of damage when using the Red Pin tech, allowing her to assault opponents with a barrage of throwing knives. Kid's ability to deal damage while stealing rare items is sure to be helpful during Serge's long journey, making her a very useful Red character to have as part of your crew!
