After seeing Concord during the PlayStation State of Play, I couldn't wait to jump into the beta and play the game. For those feeling the same way, here is how to play the Concord open beta.
How to sign up for the Concord Beta - When is the Concord Open Beta?
Concord's open beta begins on July 18, 2024, and runs until July 21, 2024. However, those who pre-order any edition of Concord gain an additional four days of open beta early access from July 12, 2024, through July 14, 2024. Additionally, pre-ordering Concord gets you four additional codes to the early access period, meaning you can bring four friends with you and fill out a whole squad.
Those who do not pre-order can simply download and jump into the open beta on July 18, 2024, by downloading it on PC and PlayStation 5. Those who pre-order will get an early code, which can be redeemed to download the beta client.
What to expect from the Concord Open Beta?
My favorite part of the upcoming Concord beta is how robust it will be. Developer Firewalk Studios has confirmed all 16 Freegunners will be available to try during the open beta. The roster includes characters seen during the announcement trailer, such as Haymar, Lennox, Vale, 1-OFF, and Star Child, but includes not yet seen characters like It-Z, Teo, Bazz, and more.
Concord's open beta includes various maps set on different planets, including Freewater, Water Hazard, Star Chamber, and Shock Risk. During the open beta weekend, the fifth map, Bone Mines, will be added to the game as well. Three game modes accompany these maps, which are Trophy Hunt, Cargo Run, and Clash Point, as well as a fourth being added called Area Control.
The open beta for Concord is also confirmed as cross-play, meaning you can play with your friends regardless of platform. No word has been made about cross-platform saves, but we may receive confirmation on this closer to the official launch on August 23, 2024.
Finally, the open beta introduces the beginning of the Northstar's crew through a series of cinematics. Each week, players will be able to see a new cinematic in-game but will be given the first during the beta. I can't wait to see what's in store for Concord and how the open beta goes.
