All characters in Darkest Dungeon 2

Who will you choose?

Darkest Dungeon 2 is the sequel to the acclaimed Darkest Dungeon, a unique art-styled roguelike RPG released back in 2016. As a fan of the first part, I noticed that it shares many similarities with its predecessor but makes some changes and additions. One of the main changes that caught my eye was the additional characters and how they remade the returning ones in this sequel. Many tweaks are set up to keep us occupied, so let's dive right in.

All Characters in Darkest Dungeon 2 and How to Unlock Them

In total, there are twelve characters to choose from in the early access build in Darkest Dungeon II. Of these nine, players only have four to choose from. Before starting a run, players must select four characters to place into their team and in which spot they will go. You can see all nine characters in Darkest Dungeon II below.

Once you have all characters available, building a mix of offense, defense, and support is the strategy you should aim for. There are several ways to upgrade your characters throughout the game, and depending on your choice, your choice can change their positions in the formation. Additionally, while some characters perform well in any position, keep your support in the backline and defense in the front line.

You can play with the Bounty Hunter in Darkest Dungeon 2 by recruiting him from the Inn. Look above where your party sits at the Inn; look for the Bounty Hunter's poster hanging from the wall. If you see the poster, click it, and you will hire the Bounty Hunter in exchange for four Candles. He will follow your party on the next run, changing places with a single hero of your choice.

Can I play with the Crusader in Darkest Dungeon 2?

Unfortunately, you cannot play with the Crusader in Darkest Dungeon II now. Crusader was my favorite character in the first part of the game due to their flexibility, and I was very disappointed to see him missing from the final character roster. We hope that Red Hook Studios will include him as a part of the DLC expansion in the future.
