All Hunter Subclasses and Abilities in Destiny 2

Hunters unite!

Each class within Destiny 2 (Hunter, Titan, and Warlock) has its own unique set of subclasses and abilities based on the four elemental types in the game: Solar, Arc, Void, and most recently, Stasis. Each of these subclasses and even their respective abilities may fit certain situations and activities better than others. Also, some exotic armor pieces may upgrade or change the way one subclass works, making the combination much more unique and powerful.

For anyone thinking about playing as a Hunter character, it's important to understand that the Hunter subclasses and abilities are primarily focused on doing damage, buffing damage output, and even a little stealth. They can be super helpful in boss fights and a blast to play.

Gunslinger (Solar)

The Solar subclass is a very damage-heavy choice that is probably most useful in PvP situations.

Starting with its choice of Supers, the Solar subclass has two of them. One is called Golden Gun, where you wield a flaming Hand Cannon that will one-shot a Guardian in PvP, and the other is called Blade Barrage, in which you launch a volley of explosive knives.

Abilities

Each Hunter Subclass, like every other class, also has its own unique grenade, melee, and class ability. The class ability is the only one that doesn't change between the Hunter subclasses.

  • Class Ability
    • Marksman's Dodge - activating the dodge ability will reload your weapon automatically.
    • Gambler's Dodge - activating the dodge ability will fully recharge your Melee ability.
  • Melee Ability
    • Proximity Explosive Knife - throw a knife that attaches to surfaces and explodes when an enemy gets close to it.
    • Knife Trick - throw a fan of three knives that burn the target on impact.
    • Weighted Knife - throw a knife that does extra precision damage. Precision kills with the knife will fully recharge it instantly.
  • Grenade Ability
    • Incendiary Grenade - catches enemies on fire.
    • Swarm Grenade - denotes on impact and sends little drones that seek nearby enemies.
    • Tripmine Grenade - sticks to surfaces and detonates when enemies pass through a red laser.

Arcstrider (Arc)

The Arc subclass is based really on speed and mobility. It's a great tool for all situations, both PvE and PvP. Starting with the Super, the Arc subclass lets Hunter's use the Arc Staff to wipe out groups of enemies and move across the field quickly.

Abilities

  • Melee Ability
    • Combination Blow - killing an enemy will trigger health regeneration and increase your melee damage.
    • Tempest Strike - After sliding, activate this ability to unleash a devastating uppercut attack.
    • Disorienting Blow - strike an enemy with this ability to disorient them and nearby enemies.
  • Grenade Ability
    • Skip Grenade - splits on impact creating multiple projectiles that seek enemies.
    • Flux Grenade - an explosive that attaches to enemies (this is receiving a major update come February).
    • Arcbolt Grenade - chains bolts of lightning to nearby enemies.

Nightstalker (Void)

Void is the subclass used most for its damage buffing and stealth capabilities and would be most useful in PvE. Like the Gunslinger subclass, Nightstalker also has the choice of two Supers: Shadowshot, where you shoot arrow tethers that slow and weaken enemies, or Spectral Blades, in which you use a pair of Void blades to cut down enemies.

Void Abilities

  • Grenade Ability
    • Vortex Grenade - creates a vortex that continually damages enemies trapped inside.
    • Spike Grenade - attaches to any surface and emits a torrent of damaging Void Light.
    • Voidwall Grenade - creates a horizontal wall of burning Void Light.
  • Melee Ability
    • Snare Bomb - sticks to surfaces and detonates when enemies are near, slowing and disorienting them.
    • Corrosive Smoke - slows enemies and damages them over time
    • Vanish In Smoke - will make you and your allies invisible for a short duration and grants Heart of the Pack buff.

Revenant (Stasis)

Stasis is the newest addition of subclass for each class within the game. It was introduced at the start of the Beyond Light DLC and has been a great addition to the overall PvE gameplay. It features an ice-like elemental power capable of freezing enemies in their place. For Hunters, this subclass is about buffing team damage and controlling territory on the battlefield.

The Super in this subclass is called Silence and Squall, which launches a spinning Ice Storm that tracks towards enemies, freezing them and killing anything trapped within.

Stasis Abilities

  • Grenade Ability
    • Glacier Grenade - creates a wall of large stasis glaciers that can freeze nearby enemies and destroy them when the wall is shattered.
    • Duskfield Grenade - creates a large dome of floating stasis crystals that will freeze anything inside it.
    • Coldsnap Grenade - upon impact, this grenade will unleash a freezing bolt that tracks down nearby enemies and freezes them.
  • Melee Ability
    • Withering Blade - launch a Stasis shuriken at enemies to cause freezing damage. If you hit them twice with the attack, they will freeze. This melee attack will also chain hits to different targets if they are close enough together. You get two charges as well.

Stasis also comes with a few options of aspects to customize and enhance the individual abilities. This is a newer feature that might also see more use in future DLC.
