Thanks to crafting in Destiny 2: The Witch Queen and Bungie's decision to include the three new Exotic Glaives as part of it, Guardians have full control over their new class weapons. This allows for a fairly robust level of build crafting. But when it comes to making the most of a Glaive, there are three perks to look at when crafting.
- Haft: Ballistic Tuning - greatly increases range, decreases shield duration
- Mag: Light Mag - Increases reload speed, slightly increases range
- Stock: Short-Action Stock - Greatly increases handling speed

Unfortunately, the biggest complaint with the Exotic Glaives is the energy required to trigger their unique perks. This has led many Guardians to revert back to the Enigma, the first Glaive and weapon they craft in The Witch Queen. Adding insult to injury, none of the available perks increase the rate of energy gain.
As such, the perks listed above make for a quick, aggressive Glaive with plenty of range to take out those pesky foes that like to fight at a distance. By letting the Glaive do what it does best, Guardians aren't reliant on the Exotic perk and, instead, can use it as more of a bonus to what they're already doing.
