Best Strand Build for Warlocks in Destiny 2

Like a deadly spider.

Strand has burst onto the scene in Destiny 2 and each of the classes is utilizing the threads of life in unique and varied ways. Warlocks have innately become masters of minions called Threadlings. Here's a build that will put these adorable little critters to work for you. With this build working for you, one can make short work of the new content like Vex Incursion Zones.

Lightfall Strand Warlock Build

This build is all about Threadlings. Consider your Warlock a big happy spider with a ton of hungry babies. With that in mind, we're all about anything that can make or enhance Threadlings.

Strand Abilities

  • Needlestorm: Conjure a hail of deadly woven needles. After embedding themselves in the environment, the needles will re-weave into a host of Threadlings. Threadlings you create will return to you and perch if they can't find any nearby targets. Damaging targets with your weapons or melee will send out perched Threadlings to attack.
  • Healing Rift: Conjure a well of power that continuously heals those inside it.
  • Arcane Needle: Sling a woven needle that will embed in your target, unraveling them. Activate your melee ability again to chain up to two additional attacks.
  • Threadling Grenade: A woven projectile that reweaves itself into Threadlings while in flight.

Strand Aspects

  • Weaver's Call: Cast your Rift to weave three Threadlings and deploy any Threadlings you have perched.
  • Mindspun Invocation: Your grapple, Shackle Grenade, and Threadling Grenade have enhanced functionality.
    • Your grapple melee spawns three Threadling eggs.
    • Consume your Shackle Grenade and activate Weaver's Trance. Final blows while Weaver's Trance is active create a suspending detonation.
    • Consume your Threadling Grenade and immediately generate five perched Threadlings.

Strand Fragments

  • Thread of Finality: Finisher final blows create Threadlings. (+10 Recovery)
  • Thread of Rebirth: Strand weapon final blows have a chance to create a Threadling.
  • Thread of Evolution: Threadlings travel farther and deal additional damage. (+10 Intellect)
  • Thread of Binding: Super final blows emit a suspending burst from the target. (+10 Resilience)

Weapons

  • Final Warning
    • All at Once: Holding down the trigger marks targets within range and loads multiple bullets, which fire in a burst with increased stability on trigger release. Hitting a marked target with a fully charged burst will unravel them.
    • Pick Your Poison:
      • Hipfiring: Projectiles will track marked targets, dealing increased body shot damage on impact.
      • Aiming: Projectiles have greatly increased velocity and deal extra critical hit damage to marked targets.
  • Round Robin
  • Circular Logic

Armor & Mods

As with any build in Destiny 2, a good foundation starts with 100 Resilience. Everything in Lightfall hits a lot harder than in previous iterations of Destiny 2. As such, the following recommended mods are negotiable with the increased cost of Resilience mods.

  • Helm
    • Strand Siphon, Strand Targeting, Font of Wisdom
  • Arms
    • Strand Loader x2, Font of Focus
  • Chest
    • Charged Up x2
  • Swarmers: Destroying a Tangle spawns a Threadling. Your Threadlings unravel targets that they damage.
    • Strand Weapon Surge x2, Stacks on Stacks
  • Class Item
    • Utility Kickstart x2, Outreach
