Into The Light brings back 12 eagerly awaited weapons to Destiny 2, but how do they rank up compared to the rest of the arsenal? In that vein, I've created a tier list of all Destiny 2 Into The Light weapons to help you separate the wheat from the chaff.
All Destiny 2 Into The Light weapons, ranked
The weapons listed below are divided into four tiers based on their stats, versatility, and combat effectiveness. To obtain these weapons, visit Shaxx in the Hall of Champions and complete his bounties to increase your reputation. Reaching a high reputation rank will help you earn more Trophies of Bravery by completing Onslaught and other Into the Light quests.
Building up your reputation with Shaxx yields up to 100 Trophies of Bravery you can spend on unlocking BRAVE chests in the Hall of Champions. These chests contain all twelve Into The Light weapons along with the rest of the arsenal, and this is the only way you can acquire them.
Tier | Weapons |
---|---|
S-Tier | Edge Transit, Mountaintop, Forbearance |
A-Tier | Luna's Howl, Blast Furnace, Hammerhead |
B-Tier | Elsie's Rifle, Midnight Coup, Succession |
C-Tier | Hung Jury SR4, The Recluse, Falling Guillotine |
S-Tier Destiny 2 Into The Light Weapons
Mountaintop
The Mountaintop's return is the most eagerly anticipated addition from Into The Light. Although there's nothing distinctive about this grenade launcher at first glance, its ability to perform rocket jumps without taking damage opens up room for more movement options.
The Micro Missiles feature lets you fire grenades in a straight line for more direct hits. Combined with the Recombination perk for energy buildup and the Auto-Loading Holster for reloading the weapon while not in use, the Mountaintop becomes a pure engine of destruction.
Forbearance
Another grenade launcher takes the top spot! Forbearance stands out thanks to its massive damage output and excellent compatibility with perks such as Unrelenting and Demolitionist. With Unrelenting, you gain 65 health and initiate health regeneration after three kills, while Demolitionist regenerates grenade energy for reloads. A mighty combo!
A-Tier - Destiny 2 Into The Light Weapons
Hammerhead
Combine this weapon with Killing Tally or Rampage, and you'll see why the Hammerhead towers above the majority of weapons in Destiny 2. Machine guns aren't known for high DPS rates, and the Hammerhead is no exception. However, compared to its peers the Hammerhead packs a punch against regular enemy swarms thanks to its decent magazine size.
Blast Furnace
Pulse rifles are divisive amongs Destiny 2 players. Although I'm on the fence about them too, the Blast Furnace makes a good case with its high damage and excellent stability. The limited magazine size and higher reload times prevent it from reaching S-tier. However, if you put some distance between you and your enemies, you can mitigate the disadvantage.
B-Tier - Destiny 2 Into The Light Weapons
Elsie's Rifle
Elsie's Rifle has the potential to be a great pulse rifle, but the underwhelming damage output and small magazine weigh it down significantly. Its saving grace are perks like Frenzy or Repulsor Brace that amplify damage over time while creating an overshield for each defeated Void Debuffed enemy.
Midnight Coup
The Midnight Coup is the jack of all trades, but a master of none. Good damage output and ammo clip size place it high among its hand cannon peers. However, as a kinetic weapon it fails to complement any particular build.
With reload perks such as Enlightened Action or Tremors, you can create a hand cannon with an improved fire rate or use Explosive Payload to ramp up the damage. Sadly, poor perk selection doesn't do enough to justify it being your primary weapon.

C-Tier - Destiny 2 Into The Light Weapons
Hung Jury SR4
The Hung Jury in itself is an okay choice for a ranged scout weapon. However, there have been so many Hung Jury variants in the past that render acquiring the SR4 a waste of time. If you get your hands on one of these, disassemble it and move on.
Falling Guillotine
Swords are good options for one-time high-damage strikes, and the Falling Guillotine is no slouch. Unfortunately, it doesn't do enough to stand tall alongside The Lament or The Other Half. As a fan of swords in Destiny 2, this left a bitter taste.
