Destiny 2 Legendary Campaign general tips

I never said it would be easy. I said it would be worth it.

Bungie introduced a Legendary Campaign with the release of The Witch Queen in Destiny 2. It provides a significant challenge to players itching for something more in the story. That being said, it's no joke, and players should plan accordingly. Here are some helpful hints to emerge victorious.

Be Patient

Patience is the name of the game. Every enemy has the potential to kill a player, and in Darkness Zones, every death really hurts. As such, play at a distance and take it slow. The Legendary Campaign is a marathon, not a sprint. Coordinate and communicate with your fire team. Plan strategies, and don't be afraid to duck behind cover when things inevitably get too hairy.

Use Rally Banners

There will be points where Rally Banners can be planted at several points in each mission. These are free to use and aren't pulled from any Raid Banner pool. These points almost invariably mark a point where players will be entering a Darkness Zone, so having a full kit is a good idea.

Pay Attention to Light Level

The Legendary Campaign will cap effective Light Levels. As such, know what the cap is for each mission to ensure you're not making things harder than they should be by being underleveled.

  • The Arrival - 1350
  • The Investigation - 1350
  • The Ghosts - 1355
  • The Communion - 1405
  • The Mirror - 1405
  • The Cunning - 1425
  • The Last Chance - 1475
  • The Ritual - 1485

Suppression is Your Friend

Suppression grenades and the Suppressing Glaive Seasonal Artifact mod are critical to dealing with Lightbearer Hive and tougher foes in general. Suppression will rip enemies out of their supers, prevent them from using abilities, and, in the glaive case, essentially stunlock them.

Infuse Your Gear

While the Legendary Campaign will be throwing new gear with higher Light Levels at players left and right, it's better to use one set equipped with adequate modifiers. After every major encounter in a mission, there will be treasure chests which include a couple of Upgrade Modules. As such, players shouldn't have too much of an issue keeping their sets infused throughout the campaign.

Death Happens

Flawless runs aren't going to happen. Death is an inevitable part of the experience. However, the way death works is a little unique. In the Darkness Zones, the countdown will carry over into the next down when a player goes down. Additionally, each player can only resurrect an ally once.

Modifiers

There is a multitude of modifiers in play. Knowing what they are to effectively plan around it can make all the difference. While the number of modifiers in each mission is different, they all pull from the same pool.

  • Mettle - The activity is at a fixed difficulty
  • Legendary - Heavily shielded and highly aggressive combatants appear in great numbers
  • Chaff - Radar is disabled
  • Galvanized - Combatants have more health and are more difficult to stun
  • Fire Pit - When defeated, Acolytes spawn fire pools that cause damage over time
  • Empath - Enhanced radar. Take increased damage from melee
