The raid race for Destiny 2's Root of Nightmares dungeon is nearly upon us. Guardians only have a short amount of time to prep for Lightfall's first raid. Here's a rundown of the recommended Power Level and how to get there.
What is the Power Level cap for Root of Nightmares in Destiny 2 Lightfall?
The Root of Nightmares raid contest mode will have a Power Level cap of 1780 for all encounters. Contest mode will run for 48 hours beginning on March 10, 2023, at 11am ET. At the time of this article, that leaves six days to prepare.
As per the different Power caps guide, Guardians will likely hit the Soft Cap of 1750 just by playing the campaign on Normal. Completing it on Legendary will award a full set of 1770 gear. It is recommended to go the latter route as it puts players closer to that 1780 cap. From there, Guardians will want to complete both varying activities that award either Powerful or Pinnacle rewards.
Activities that award Powerful gear
- Complete eight bounties from each of the vendors: Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard Ops, and Gunsmith (+1 Power)
- Weekly Nightfall challenge (+1 Power)
- Crucible, Gambit, Vanguard Ops, and Gunsmith rank rewards (+1 Power)
- Random drop Prime and Exotic Engrams
Activities that award Pinnacle gear
- Clan Vendor (Hawthorne) rewards and bounties (+1 Power)
- Three Crucible matches (+1 Power)
- Three Gambit matches (+1 Power)
- Three Vanguard Ops missions (+1 Power)
- Raid drops (Root of Nightmares/rotator raids) (+2 Power)
- Dungeon drops (Spire of the Watcher/rotator dungeon) (+2 Power)
- 100,000 Nightfall score (+2 Power)
- 250,000 score in Dares of Eternity (+2 Power)
