How to Beat Oryx in King’s Fall – Destiny 2 Raid Guide

Put an end to the Taken King.

If you've made it this far in the King's Fall raid of Destiny 2, then you're in luck. The Oryx fight is a near identical copy of the Daughters fight. There are a few differences to be aware of, but the basics will be the same.

Positioning

Guardians will want to keep whatever plate and floater positions they established during the Daughters fight for the sake of simplicity. The roles will behave exactly the same in this fight. If for whatever reason you've ended up in a King's Fall raid and this is your first encounter, good luck. But the fireteam will want a Guardian on each plate with a floater for the front and back.

Add Phase

Guardians will want to equip weapons that can quickly dispatch both red and orange bar enemies. In particular, there will be several moments when Guardians need to drop Ogres and Knights as quickly as possible.

Plates Phase

Oryx will move around the arena and randomly pick a plate to occupy by slamming his fist down atop it. This will begin the Plates Phase. Oryx will randomly take a Guardian. The Guardians on plate duty need to look at their plate for a green glow to determine starting position. The Guardian will then step on that plate and look where the taken Guardian is headed. This will be indicated by a glowing orb above another plate. When both Guardians step on the plates, a path of floating rocks will appear. The taken Guardian must navigate from the start to finish and run through the orb.

While this is happening, there will be Ogres that spawn by the plates. It is imperative that they die as soon as possible. They will drop a black orb with an aura on their death. Do not step in this. The aura will trigger the orb, which is a bomb. Additionally, Knights will spawn and head toward the bombs to detonate them. Much like the Ogres, kill these Knights on sight.

On the third round of a Guardian being taken, that Guardian will need to grab the orb and bring it to the middle of the room, slamming it on the Knight that is moving from one end of the room to the other. This will spawn a protective bubble and begin the Boss Damage Phase.

Boss Damage Phase

Oryx will slam his fist down on the plate he is closest to. Players will see Oryx calls upon the Darkness. This is your cue to go into that black aura. After three seconds, Guardians will see the message [Player Name] has detonated a Corrupted Light. The very moment that message appears, hoof it to the bubble in the middle.

The bombs will then detonate and stun Oryx. Blast him with Well of Radiance, Divinity, and let the linear fusion rifles go hard.

Oryx's Retaliation

After the round of boss damage, Oryx will launch an attack of their own. There are two possible actions here. The first is Oryx summoning a thunderdome where he began the fight. Guardians will need to kill the adds trying to get into the dome. Occasionally, Oryx will teleport players into the dome. It is up to them to shoot the Shade of Oryx inside.

The other attack is that Oryx will launch a never-ending onslaught of bombs. Guardians will need to keep moving, avoid one another, and kill the Knights atop the plates to end the phase quickly.

Last Stand

When pushed into this mode at low enough health, it's literally do-or-die. Oryx will move to where he first spawned. Two more Ogres will spawn on either side of the room. Killing them will produce two more bombs. Oryx will then call upon the Darkness. Guardians can use one of the bombs to stun him and enter Damage Phase. If there is a need to stun him again, pop the second bomb. Again, Divinity and linear fusion rifles are the play here.
