The Destiny 2 Lightfall expansion brings us a new Root of Nightmares raid. Each six-man team needs to navigate the Darkness Pyramid ship that beamed during the attack on Earth as part of the ongoing conflict between Light and Darkness. While it's not as difficult as some of Destiny 2's previous raids, it still presents a difficult task, giving players four encounters they must overcome. To finish the first Encounter called Cataclysm in Root of Nightmares Raid in Destiny 2, you must activate a plate chain using the Field of Light buff. During this time, you must also kill shielded Tormentors and Psions to keep yourself alive and fight off the Sweeping Terror, a wipe mechanic in this Encounter.

The most optimal way to do this is to split your team into two roles:

• Buff Runners: You need one or two players for this role. They need to run between the orbs, applying the Field of Light buff.
• Fire support: The rest of the team should fill this role. Their job will be to back the Runners up as much as possible by killing enemies. Killing Tormentors to extend the wipe timer is their primary role.

The players need to stand on a glowing plate with a white orb to get the buff. To get the buff, they must shoot the orb. A line emanating from the orb should point them to where they should go next.

The process remains the same, with Runners having to jump onto the plate — this time with the black orb — and shoot it with the buff still active. This action will consume the buff, turning the orb white. The light will extend the pathway to where they should go next, but not before going back to the glowing plate to regain the Field of Light buff. The buff-refilling plates will move two places behind the chain. To complete the Encounter, Runners must chain four series of plates.

Disposing of ads to win the Cataclysm Encounter will be the role of the rest of the team, along with protecting the Runner. They should lay down their covering fire as much as possible until the Runner successfully chains four series of orb plates.

Occasionally, you will see a message saying, "An adherent of torment has appeared." This message denotes the two shielded Psions have spawned. Using melee attacks will kill them the quickest, at which time they will spawn a Tormentor. When this happens, everyone should focus on killing it, as each Tormentor you kill will grant you 30 more seconds on the Sweeping Terror timer.
