How to complete Empty Grief in Destiny 2

Stare back.

Following the beat of last week's Burning Shame mission, Bungie is tasking Guardians this week with creating a competent Void loadout. Empty Grief requires Guardians to complete Sever - Grief using only a Void subclass and Void, Kinetic, or Stasis weapons. With that in mind, we have several options for those looking to complete this challenge.

Best Loadout for Empty Grief

Guardians are free to mix and match anything in the following lists. These focus heavily on Void weapons and keep Kinetics as an afterthought. Simply find a core weapon that agrees with you and build around that.

Note: Using the scythe will automatically fail this challenge as it is a Solar weapon. DO NOT use the scythe.

Kinetic Slot

  • Firefright - Legendary Auto Rifle
  • Tears of Contrition - Legendary Scout Rifle
  • Heritage - Legendary Shotgun

Energy Slot

  • The Enigma - Legendary Glaive (Void)
  • Le Monarque - Bow (Exotic)(Void)
  • Ruinous Effigy - Trace Rifle (Exotic)(Void)
  • IKELOS_HC_V1.0.2 - Legendary Hand Cannon (Void)
  • Under Your Skin - Legendary Bow (Void)
  • Bottom Dollar - Legendary Hand Cannon (Void)
  • Graviton Lance - Pulse Rifle (Exotic)(Void)
  • Null Composure - Legendary Fusion Rifle (Void)

Power Slot

  • Commemoration - Legendary Machine Gun (Void)
  • Falling Guillotine - Legendary Sword (Void)
  • Black Talon - Sword (Exotic)(Void)

Subclass

Embrace the Void, Guardian. It doesn't matter which class or flavor of Void you run, but you must run Void.

Sever - Grief Walkthrough

  • Players land in a new section of the Derelict Leviathan's underbelly. Proceed forward and immediately take a right into the narrow hallway.
  • Take out the enemies in the next room and continue on. Place the Ritual Amplifier in the next hallway.
  • When you come up to the room with the electricity, shoot the Egregore Spore to the left and proceed through the hazed doorway just past the closed doorway back in the hall.
  • Grab the wrench at the end of the hallway and take it to the hazed doorway.
  • To the right, there's another entrance to the electrified room. Jump into the opening at the top and follow the pipes to the left. Shoot the Egregore Spore again and retrieve the wrench.
  • Use the wrench on the device in front of the electrical room and proceed into the now safe space. Be mindful to stay on the catwalk, or you will die.
  • Release the containment lockdown. Proceed into the next room and eliminate all the Scorn.
  • After slaying the Scorn, proceed into the offshoot room before the hole in the ceiling and place the second Ritual Amplifier.
  • Go back into the main room and jump up the now unobstructed hole to the floor above.
  • After watching the exchange between Zavala and Safiyah, head through the unlocked door and set the third Ritual Amplifier.
  • Push forward into the circular room and shoot the Egregore Spore at the end of it. Immediately turn around and drop into the lit hole.
  • Don't forget to place your Rally Banner and speak with Zavala to begin the final encounter!
