Where to find every fossil the Fossil Collector wants in Detective Pikachu Returns

I’m getting tired of punching rocks…

The Fossil Collector is a Detective Pikachu Returns character you can find in the Southern Ruins. You can speak to him as soon as you enter, but you’ll only receive the fossil quest if you speak to him with Darmaritan already ridable (if it doesn’t trigger as Tim, speak to him as Pikachu). He’s a fussy old man who’s looking for some fossils—and is super picky about them too. Here’s where to find the fossils that he’ll actually accept.

All fossil locations in the Detective Pikachu Returns Southern Ruins side quest

You need two particular fossils to satisfy the Fossil Collector in Detective Pikachu Returns. However, I will note the third fossil’s location anyway, in case the quest doesn’t check itself off even after that.

Fossil #1

The first fossil is in this rock near the area entrance. Break it to receive an Armor Fossil.

The second fossil is located near the ruins entrance this time. From camp, ride Darmaritan east and smash those rocks blocking the way. You should find an area with a Solrock in it. There’s another breakable stone in this place; smash it to receive a Skull Fossil.

There’s also an Aerodactyl fossil (called Old Amber) inside the rock near the Ursarings in the middle of the area. The Fossil Collector won’t accept it, but just letting you know it exists in case it is a requirement for the quest clear!

Once you have your fossils, speak to the Fossil Collector again and give them to him for appraisal. That's it, you've done the deed!
