Diablo 4 – Keeping the Old Traditions Quest Walkthrough

I am a traditional man! I see a nice wall statue, I press Like!

Diablo 4 is Blizzard's latest RPG heavy hitter, bringing us many adventures in Main and Side Quests worthy of its reputation. Most of them are straightforward, but occasionally I've come to a few that can be confusing or aren't explained adequately. Keeping the Old Traditions is one such quest, as during my adventures in Dry Steppes, I've come upon a statue. I knew there was something I could do there, and I was right; in this guide, we will explain how to activate the Keeping the Old Traditions quest and how to complete it successfully.

Keeping the Old Traditions is one of the riddle Quests of Diablo 4, just like the Secret of the Spring notes riddle. The Quest is located in the Untamed Scarps part of the Dry Steppes region, marked by a red square in the above picture. To start the Quest, go to the location and look for a book lying on the ground. When you click on it to read it, you will get a message: "Though timeworn, you endure. Before your colorful kin, I say: Yes, I keep our traditions!"

Next, head over to the area marked by a blue-bordered zone on the map to the northwest of your current location. Find the statue on the wall and stand over it. Like in the Secret of the Spring, you must use your emote to complete this quest successfully. To solve the riddle, use the "Yes!" emote to summon the invisible chest and finish this Side Quest. You will be awarded 3,992 XP and 1,120 Gold, as well as the chest's contents as the award for your troubles.

Note that there has been a debate among the player base regarding the time of day you can initiate this objective, with some players claiming they could only see and interact with the book at nighttime. This is false in my experience; during my playthrough of the Quest, I could see the book and start the Quest during the day, as portrayed in the image above. Blizzard has released several patches since the game launched, which could have been one of the things they changed.
