What are Governing and Tuning Stones in Diablo 4 Season of Construct?

Governing and Tuning stones are the core mechanics of Season of Construct, and they are used to apply gameplay-altering changes to your Seneschal Construct. The two types of stones serve the same purpose, but each one has nuances that make them unique from one another.

Governing Stones are the foundation for altering how your Seneschal Construct functions during gameplay. They are so significant that the Seneschal Construct will even behave entirely differently, depending on which ones you use. Your Construct is only allowed to equip two Governing Stones at a time, and each shapes the core of its functionality. These functional abilities can range from making your construct a ranged damage dealer to turning it into a tank, to even a supporting unit for your cause. The combination of any two Governing Stones will determine how your Construct will assist you, allowing even for some hybrid builds.

Tuning Stones are the sprinkles you scatter amongst your Governing Stones to further enhance your construct. These stones offer powerful passives that range from damage-boosting buffs to allowing your construct to fire additional projectiles. Unlike with Governing Stones, you can equip a total of six Tuning Stones, but only three for each Governing stone. The passive effects on Tuning Stones only affect the Governing Stone under which they are equipped.

How to get Governing and Tuning Stones in Diablo 4 Season of Construct

The primary means of obtaining Governing and Tuning Stones is to craft them using Shattered Stones found throughout just playing the Season of Construct. Shattered Stones are a rather common drop, so there will be no shortage of necessary resources to craft these stones as long as you're playing in the season. You'll want to craft additional Governing and Tuning Stones to fine-tune your Seneschal Construct's behavior and abilities to your exact liking. Crafting of these stones can be done at any Jeweler in Sanctuary.

You will also get both types of Stones as drops through playing the Season of Construct. This season has you adventuring into forgotten vaults and opening special Wardwoven Chests (found in the vaults), both of which will reward you with Governing and Tuning Stones on occasion.
