You may, or may not, have heard about an ability to skip the campaign storyline for Diablo 4. This feature isn't exactly new, but it is a much-welcomed edition, especially with how long and expansive Diablo 4 is. It is being especially well-received by long-time Diablo players, as the grind for the best loot and strongest build has absolutely nothing to do with the campaign whatsoever. Are you interested in skipping the campaign? If so, keep reading, because I've got everything you need to know.
How to skip the Diablo IV campaign
You can skip Diablo 4 campaign, but it comes with a roughly 30-hour catch. You see, in order to receive the option, you first need to beat the entire campaign on one character. The option to skip only shows up after the credits roll, so until that happens, you'll just have to speed through the storyline. Once you've done so, you'll be given the option to skip the campaign on any new characters you create on your account.
How does the skip campaign option work in Diablo IV?
When you skip the campaign on a character, you will begin the game in Kyovashad. You'll have access to your mount, and you won't have a main story quest, as the option implies. Effectively, the game treats your new character like it is already at the endgame. What this means is that you will be able to see endgame activities, such as the trials and tribulations offered by the Tree of Whispers, on your World Map. Some of these activities are actually doable on new characters, but many have level requirements that must still be respected.
The World Map will not be revealed for your new characters. This is a bit surprising but it does add an explorative feeling to playing the open world without a quest to guide you through it. Side Quests are also still available to complete on new characters, so it isn't like you're completely thrown the wolfs.
Is progression account-wide in Diablo IV?
While the World Map is not account-wide, almost everything else is. Any Codex of Power dungeons you've completed will be available to run again, but the reward will already be accessible on all your characters. Statues of Lilith are also account-wide, meaning the bonuses from them will be applied the moment you make a new character. The bottom reward for Collections is also account-wide. Things like Skill Points earned from Region Renown are given to all your characters upon creation, regardless of whether you skip the campaign or not. Diablo 4 is very friendly to alts, a godsent for me.
So there you have it, dear reader. Getting the option to skip the campaign is a bit of slog if you're not into the story, but once you have it, you'll never have to think about it again.
