Can you skip dialogue in Digimon Survive?

My thumb hurts.

Digimon Survive is undoubtedly a visual novel—even though the gameplay does introduce a tactical grid gameplay as well. Therefore, there’s a lot of reading. Walls of texts are even provided every time you click on a new object in every chapter. And much like most visual novels, it doesn’t have a skip button unless the cutscene is CGI.

How to fast forward dialogue in Digimon Survive

The good thing is that there is a way to fast forward dialogue. On any console controller, it should be the right directional button. On a keyboard, it should be whatever key you have assigned to the right directional button, such as “D.”

To skip unread texts, you need to change the skip setting to Unread in the settings menu as well.

Fast forward is particularly useful for skipping dialogue you have already seen. This includes unskippable cutscenes before the chapter’s final battle and dialogues you need to re-read from loading save files after a bad decision.

By the way, you can also let the game autoplay dialogue by pressing the left directional button, allowing you to multitask. It’s also possible for the dialogue texts to appear faster by changing the speed in the settings on the menu. If you think you missed something during the conversation, you can even press Y or the square button to open the log.

In fact, there’s a lot that Digimon Survive doesn’t really teach you, such as digivolving non-partner Digimons, where to change the game’s difficulty, and what karma points are for. If you have time, the Help menu is a must-read. A survivor’s instinct must be to utilize every piece of information available.
