Storybook Vale Critter feeding guide for Disney Dreamlight Valley

I have a deep fondness for all of these babies.

Earning the trust of the critters in Disney Dreamlight Valley so they become your companions is time-consuming, so let's make it easier. Instead of wasting consumables, here's a guide on the best food to feed every critter in The Storybook Vale!

Critters' favorite foods in The Storybook Vale (Disney Dreamlight Valley)

You can tell that you've fed a critter their favorite food because they'll put on a display of happiness before eating. For critters that fly, you'll see them do a loop in the air before they settle on the perch to eat. When they're finished, you'll see multiple hearts appear.

CritterFavorite Food
Owl (all variants)Any grain (Barley, Rice, Wheat, etc.).
Baby Dragon (all variants)Magma (mined from rocks in The Elysium Fields, The Fiery Plains, The Statue's Shadow, and Mount Olympus).
Pure Ice (mined from rocks in The Wild Woods, Teapot Falls, The Fallen Fortress, and The Beanstalk Marshes).
Pegasus (all variants)Bouillabaisse (2x Any Seafood, 1x Shrimp, 1x Tomato, 1x Any Vegetable).

How to feed each critter

Critters can sometimes be difficult to feed. Raccoons, for example, require a strange game of red-light, green-light where you need to get as close as possible before they notice.

CritterHow to Feed
Owl (all variants)Walk up to an Owl and interact with them. Owls are the easiest to feed because they don't run away when you get close.

How to make a critter your companion

Each critter will require that you feed them the food they enjoy the most. But, how many times you need to do this is the real question. We're still figuring this out, so please check back soon.

To make a critter your companion after you've unlocked them, pull up your wardrobe and click on companions. You can choose a critter to equip from all of the ones you've unlocked in any part of Disney Dreamlight Valley - whether they're from the base game or one of the DLCs. Your companion will follow you around as you play.
