What Are Skills in Dynasty Warriors Origins?

In Dynasty Warriors Origins, the skills system allows you to upgrade your character's stats, unlock special passives, and get universal Battle Arts by spending Skill Points (SP). Skills are separated into 6 skill panels (trees), each containing stronger and more expensive skills.

To unlock a skill, simply select it and hold down LMB (PC) or (PlayStation). You can start unlocking the nodes of the next skill panel without finishing the previous one. If you unlock a node that's lower in the tree, all skill nodes above it will also become unlockable.

How to Unlock New Skill Panels

In DWO, you unlock new skill panels by increasing your character's Rank Level. You gain Rank Levels by increasing each weapon's Proficiency (default is 1; maximum is 8), and the maximum Rank Level you can have is 64. Here are all Rank Level breakpoints and what skill panels they unlock:

  • Knight-Errant Rank (Rank Lv. 3)
  • Adept Rank (Rank Lv. 7)
  • Expert Rank (Rank Lv. 15)
  • Master Rank (Rank Lv. 25)
  • Hero Rank (Rank Lv. 31)
  • Musou Rank (Rank Lv. 38)
  • ??? Rank (Rank Lv. 50)

How to Get Skill Points in Dynasty Warriors Origins

The most important source of Skill Points (SP) in Dynasty Warriors Origins is training missions. You will get training missions from NPCs as you progress through the game. NPCs that have training missions available will have a blue scroll icon above their heads. It's paramount you take and finish as many of these missions as you can.

Another source of Skill Points in DWO is combat. Just killing enemies and bosses and performing other actions, such as charges, base captures, Musou Attacks, etc., will award a small number of Skill Points. These will stack up over time.

Can You Refund Spent Skill Points?

No, there are no Skill Points refunds in Dynasty Warriors Origins, and it's not like you will feel the need for them. Just by doing training missions and story battles, you'll get more skill points than you'll need to unlock all the important nodes. Once you've unlocked everything good, you'll basically be spending SP only on stats.

The Best Skills to Get in Dynasty Warriors Origins

Below are the optimal skill unlock routes for each skill panel. Every node that isn't listed is just suboptimal. Also, flat Attack outvalues HP/DEF most of the time, so those nodes are always preferred, especially if they cost very little SP.
