When can you start your own Empire?

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires takes more of the formula from the original Romance of the Three Kingdoms game. Since Dynasty Warriors 4, each installment in the series has had its own Empires release.

Dynasty Warriors 9 Empires will release on Feb. 15, 2022, on SteamPlayStation 4, PlayStation 5Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.

The game's Steam page may lead you to believe it was released on Dec. 23, 2021, but that was the Japanese release. There will be no English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish versions until February.

The biggest difference between Dynasty Warriors and the Empires versions is the extent to which politics and role-playing are involved. The player follows the characters' story in the original Dynasty Warriors game. Empires lets players create their own history of China's Three-Kingdoms period.

Players can create their own character in an improved Edit mode and decide which territories they want to conquer and which person to marry. Alliances can be made, wars can be waged and ended through diplomacy, and the player needs to consider every avenue possible to conquer China.
