S Tier Characters - Best Units in E.T.E. Chronicle
Our S tier mechas are the ones of S rarity that either hit their role out of the ballpark, or offer kits that expand beyond their roles making team comps and high difficulty levels an easy task.
| Character | Pros & Cons |
|---|---|
![]() Yu-Heng S Qiqiao (Support, Naval, Penumbra) | + Yu-Heng is an amazing addition to any team in the form of a Penumbra support, giving the whole team healing, damage, and debuff immunity while also providing damage buffs + Damage buffs scaling is a healing bonus check, and she also gives a second life with a little of invulnerability to her teammates once - In odd cases where the enemies' healing bonus is bigger, she actually debuffs the friendly units |
![]() Wave-less S Deneb (Special, Ground, Photon) | + High damage to both D.S-Field and the target, unaffected by target's defense effects + Additionally buffs the team AP restoration that easily stacks up to 5 - Varying attack effects based on stacks of status may be difficult to predict |
![]() Yao-Guang S Long-ang (Assault, Aerial, Photon) | + High, boss-oriented damage output both to D.S-Field and the target unit + Durability self-recovery makes her sturdier + Yao-Guang is by far still the best Assault type unit in the game - Slightly tricky planning around the teamwide durability-consuming ultimate |
![]() Habakkuk S Crocel (Heavy, Naval, Magnetism) | + Habakkuk is an excellent Heavy unit that also debuffs enemy Durability recovery, while providing shields or damage absorption to all teammates + She sports an excellent Firewall buff that can make teammates immune from various debuffs and also remove them + Her Ultimate attack is a shield that deals damage to all enemies upon breaking |
![]() Zephyr S Emily (Heavy, Aerial, Magnetism) | + Another amazing Heavy, Zephyr provides shields for the entire team, and she herself can also reflect damage received + Further helps her team by making them immune form all damage and debuffs for a certain period of time - She is optimally played at low Durability (which amps her damage output), a trait that makes her more difficult to use against stronger enemies |
![]() Lightning F.X S Celesilver (Heavy, Aerial, Photon) | + The greatest perk of Lightning F.X's skill is the ability to disable enemy actions early into the battle, allowing for the team to dish quick and easy damage right off the bat + Excellent for Photon teams, she can shield the entire team, protect them from crowd control effects and overall has a lot of durability - If the battle drags out, she can't be as useful due to her super armor skill being a battle start passive |
![]() Feather-Slash S Hiyashinsu (Special, Aerial, Photon) | + Possibly the best Special in the game, Feather-Slash is a rare Photon type that focuses on providing compute damage increasing buffs for the team, while conversely offering either higher resistance or complete immunity from debuffs + She also deals great damage with her own enhanced critical attacks, and she gets even stronger if allies fall making her a great clutch finisher unit |
![]() Hinata S Mukuge (Special, Naval, Resonance) | + While less focusing on protection, Hinata debuffs multiple enemy stats and also buffs ally damage in various ways + Her gimmicky skill also allows her to deal even higher damage by stealing firepower off stronger enemies |
![]() Serelith S Alouette (Special, Naval, Penumbra) | + Another amazing Special, Serelith sports both high rate supressive AoE fire and critical attack buffs for the entire team + Multiple stacking of her many skills ensure some buffs will always be up for the team, making her an easy play and thus an easy pick |
![]() Merak S Bailu (Assault, Aerial, Penumbra) | + An excellent carry for Penumbra teams or overall, Merak focuses on inflicting critical hits to enemies, has exceptionally high stats and can disable enemy skills to create an opening for damage + On top of it all, she can also significantly debuff enemies to have them take increased damage from the whole team |
![]() Starflash S Nightglow (Assault, Aerial, Penumbra) | + One more great unit of the exact same type and purpose as Merak, Starflash instead focuses on elite enemy dispatching specifically with increased DMG towards single targets, she competes with Yao-Guang for the title of the best assault + She stacks buffs which reset skill cooldown and guarantee her critical hits, while also having buffs for enhanced critical output + Starflash also carries some enemy debuffs to have all the damage truly land where it hurts |
A Tier Characters
S rarity units that provide significant advantage with their versatile skills and sheer stat numbers that are standard for their rarity.
| Character | Pros & Cons |
|---|---|
![]() Iwatoshi S Yukiwari (Special, Ground, Magnetism) | + AoE attacks and Ultimate help control larger numbers of enemies + Both buffs the team Armor and can restrict enemy actions + A jack-of-all-trades unit, Iwatoshi is great if you have no other Specials to turn to |
![]() Rhine S Ruler (Assault, Naval, Photon) | + High firepower with additional accuracy buffs + Geared towards dispatching single targets, and can also bypass enemy deflection - Ultimate doesn't make much sense in AoE scenarios, and her perk is only useful if enemy does have deflection |
![]() Schmelzfeuer S Ruler (Special, Ground, Magnetism) | + High AoE firepower with self-buffing + Also sports a debuff for enemy durability recovery - Helps stack even more debuffs for debuff oriented team compositions |
![]() Seablade S Chisha (Assault, Naval, Penumbra) | + AoE damager especially geared towards Naval levels, coming with some debuffs + One of very few Penumbra-type units currently in the game - Full potential only available on Naval maps |
![]() White Swan S Icicle (Assault, Aerial, Resonance) | + Critical damage oriented unit, super fast normal attacks for big numbers - Slightly counterintuitive kit elements, with some buffs made for attacking multiple targets and some single targets |
![]() Zumwalt S Bratz (Special, Naval, Resonance) | + Debuffer specialist with target EN/AP recovery restrictions, Armor, Resistance reduction - Ultimate attacks all enemies, but she deals more damage the less enemies there are on the field |
![]() Kaspian Mk. III S Icicle (Heavy, Naval, Nuclear) | + Provides both AoE damage and enemy debuffs on top of being a Heavy, high Normal Attack frequency + Deflection in combo with high Armor and Shield makes her super tanky - One-mecha army especially beneficial to beginners |
![]() Izumo Prototype S Stikka (Heavy, Naval, Penumbra) | + Stikka's shield is geared towards absorbing compute damage specifically, and she has a very high resistance to Fixed DMG, additionally applies immune from crowd control + Her shield can heal allies it protects for a time - Great unit, but overall lesser performance than the Heavies of S rank |
![]() Avenger S Obsidian (Assault, Naval, Nuclear) | + Constant target peeling with consistent DEF ignore, full penetration of D.S-Field + True Damage bonus in Ultimate - Continuous damage suggests it might take a bit longer to defeat bulkier targets |
![]() Devastator S Cat-eye (Support, Ground, Photon) | + A healer who also debuffs both targets' EN/AP and Durability recovery + Especially useful in longer/boss battles where her abilities can recharge multiple times in battle - Cooldown on some skills means she probably won't see much usage in mob-only battles |
![]() Sentinel S Louise (Support, Aerial, Resonance) | + Louise's third card, Sentinel is finally a very decent support unit who can recover health, provide shields, and increase ally EN or AP recovery slowly. + The durability restoration comes in the form of healing over time + She can also give her teammates a protective buff that reduces damage received - While her kit is well rounded, it does lack behind the S tier support |
![]() Armata S String (Special, Ground, Magnetism) | + Armata primarily buffs the team and its damage output + She has higher damage output herself against enemies who have less health - Overall good unit, but the scenario in which her higher damage comes into play is a little unfavorable for pacing of the battle |
![]() Viper S Blade-Shadow (Assault, Ground, Magnetism) | + Viper's kit is one that focuses primarily on chaining damage and kills on targets which have low health, given that she both passively has higher damage against them and that some of her skills can end a cooldown on finishing such a target, thus dispatching minor enemies easily - This makes her less useful against less enemies, or stronger enemies in general. The low-health damage boost activation isn't that strong |
![]() Darknova S Starlore (Assault, Ground, Photon) | + Darknova has a solid, consistent damage output that focuses on supressing multiple enemies with AoE attacks + She also has a skill that guarantees some critical hits for her, making her more reliable, and further buffs her through her inspiration stacks - No teamwide skills to speak of |
![]() Centauro II S Candela (Assault, Ground, Resonance) | + Centauro II is a unit who is mostly self-sufficient with a variety of skills and self-healing + This means she will be a great pick if you don't have a good protective support for the team - Her firepower is lacking as a direct consequence of her kit variety |
![]() Golden Eagle S Velvet (Special, Aerial, Magnetism) | + Golden Eagle really lays down the debuffs, in the form of stat reduction, durability recovery prevention, EN/AP restriction and just downright action blocking + This unit really makes a good DPS shine - Unfortunately, she will visibly lack if the team comp isn't good |
B Tier Characters
B tier characters are Mechas whose various skills allow them to fulfill roles well, coming with a bonus of lower resource requirements to build an A rarity unit.

![]() Leclerc MX A Emily (Special, Ground, Nuclear) | A buffer/debuffer whose Ultimate may prove difficult to target the desired enemies |
![]() Caesar A Louise (Support, Naval, Nuclear) | A decent support who can continually restore Durabilty, with Ultimate targeting an ally with lowest Durability |
![]() Barrier A Halite (Heavy, Naval, Magnetism) | A Heavy who also sports some debuffs for enemy targets, along with additional self-targeted Armor buffs |
![]() Chieftain A Cold-Flame (Special, Ground, Magnetism) | A classic buffer/debuffer with ally EN/AP recovery and high Firepower |
![]() Kotetsu-Kai A Mukuge (Assault, Ground, Magnetism) | An attacker who ignores some of enemies' defense while debuffing them with Durability recovery |

![]() White-Hawk A Stikka (Special, Aerial, Resonance) | A critical-oriented specialist who has the capacity to ignore target's defense and some buffs |
![]() Dawnbreak A Louise (Support, Ground, Resonance) | A support whose Ultimate brings DoT healing to her team |
![]() Asagiri A Suzuran (Assault, Naval, Resonance) | An Assault with a straightforward Ultimate, big numbers, some debuffs, and defense ignore |
![]() Wyrm A Celesilver (Special, Naval, Resonance) | A special with high durability thanks to her Shield capacity and increased armor |
![]() Vampire A Cold-flame (Assault, Aerial, Resonance) | Like the name suggests, she is pretty durable with her self-repare ability, but also offers buffs for ally damage |
![]() Raikiri Type 16 A Stikka (Assault, Ground, Penumbra) | The game will naturally guide you to level Raikiri Type 16, who is more suited towards bossfights |

They do the one task their role gives them, often with an easily obtainable replacement so I suggest steering clear of them.
