The earliest Spirit Ashes you can get in the DLC is the Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh. You can find these Spirit Ashes in the Belurat Gaol, north of the Greatbridge North Site of Grace, in the first area of the DLC. You'll have to cross a lake from the Site of Grace to reach the Gaol entrance. There's also a Ghostflame Dragon in that lake but it's pretty much harmless as it mainly does damage when you're very close to it.

The path to the Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh is pretty linear as you'll need to go to the bottom of Belurat Gaol and defeat its boss to get it. First, keep on following the linear path until you reach an opening on the right. Go down that right opening.

Keep moving forward and you'll find a room with a few hanging Jars leading to the floors below. Go down using the Jars and you'll reach in front of a bridge. Big and small Jar enemies will try to attack you so keep on moving quickly or take them out. Go left of the bridge using the stairs and you'll see that they break apart and you'll fall down. This is normal as you'll have to move forward to get out of the area.

Move around and you'll stumble upon a doorway that leads you to the boss room, where you'll have to fight Demi-Human Swordsmaster Onze.

Demi-Human Swordsmaster Onze Boss Guide - Tips and Tricks

Swordsmaster Onze is not that tough of a fight if you know how to dodge his attacks. He'll give a lot of openings but when he doesn't, he can damage with frostbite quickly. As a melee user stay close to him to land some big blows. As a magic user, move away from him to rapidly spam spells on him. He will stop some spells with his sword but most of them will do some damage nonetheless.

His biggest assets here are his Waterfowl Dance and some powerful jumping slashes. Your best bet to avoid these is to dodge backwards. He only does this move when his health is at half. Take him out and you'll be rewarded with the Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh Spirit Ashes.

Demi-Human Swordsman Yosh is incredibly skilled with the sword and his powerful attacks. His health is quite low compared to other Spirit Ashes but he moves very quickly and does some amazing attack combos and skills. He's best when you're working together on an enemy as he will do some super quick moves that will take a fair bit of their health while the enemy is focused on you.

If you're having a tough time landing combos on certain bosses then you can try to summon Yosh. But make sure he doesn't take too many hits as his health goes pretty fast. His sword skills pretty much make up for that, however.
