When is Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree coming out?

In case you weren't already aware, Shadow of the Erdtree is looking to be one of the largest expansions in recent gaming memory. It's been in development for two years already and will boast a size as large as some of the core game’s biggest regions. Yet it will simultaneously showcase a more focused and granular gameplay experience, even bringing along its very own leveling system.

For players who are itching at the bit to travel to the Lands of Shadow (the dark sister region of the Lands Between), Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree will arrive on Friday, June 21st, 2024. It's time to cancel all those weekend plans.

Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree countdown

In what might be a frustrating bit of news for die-hard Elden Ring fans, FromSoftware has not yet given an exact release time for global regions for the Shadow of the Erdtree expansion. So just to be safe, we're setting our countdown timer to midnight CT (central time):

The Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC will be available on Steam, PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One and Series X/S. If you haven't yet finished the base game (like myself) – do not fret. While the DLC does require the base game to be installed, it has its own progression system which will operate independently from the base game, so you can hop right into it as soon as it becomes available.

What's included in Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree?

It was recently revealed that Shadow of the Erdtree will introduce a smattering of new weapons and weapon types to the game, including even a martial arts style focused on hand-to-hand (and foot-to-foot) combat. Given that the DLC will also build upon Elden Ring's diverse set of enemies by introducing more frightening and powerful versions of the game's birds, ghosts, and knights (as well as 10 new bosses) – this new martial arts focus will certainly make for some memorable moments.
