Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 see major sales boost following TV show debut

A feel-good post-apocalyptic story.

If you found yourself playing old Fallout games after watching Lucy, the Ghoul, and Maximus on TV, you're not alone. We all wanted to spend more time in a wasteland, which resulted in (un)expected Fallout 4 and Fallout 76 sales boost.

If you watched player counts on Steam charts, you've noticed a surge of vault dwellers in Fallout 4 and Fallout 76. We all noticed more players, but no one expected both games to appear in the Top 10 list after being buried at the bottom. According to Matt Piscatella, video game industry advisor, Fallout 4 ranked 5th on the April charts after finishing March on the 87th spot. Fallout 76 jumped even higher, going from 159th in March to 8th in April!

While Fallout 4 was successful during its initial run, Fallout 76 was an ambitious game with many issues at launch. While it did improve slowly, it would have been too late for players to notice if not for the Fallout TV series. This fact makes Fallout 76's leap from the gaming cellar straight to the top even more impressive. Given a second chance, developers now hope to keep players this time, especially given plenty of new Fallout 76 content.

You have to give it to Bethesda, as they were prepared for this, giving Fallout 4 a next-gen facelift and introducing a plethora of fresh content to almost-forgotten Fallout 76. There will be no shortage of new content in the future, as the second season of the Fallout TV show is officially in development. This gives Bethesda hope that Starfield will see its glorious comeback if the Starfield TV project ever comes up. It is, after all, Fallout in space!
