Best trees to grow in Farming Simulator 22

There are 13 types of trees in Farming Simulator 22. On average, trees take two and a half years to reach their mature height. This doesn't include poplars which only take 16 months to reach full height. We wouldn't recommend planting poplars, however, because even though they grow quickly they can only be used for wood chips and poplar bales which drastically reduces their sale price.

The trees available are:

  • Poplar
  • Pine
  • Stone Pine
  • Spruce
  • Birch
  • Oak
  • Willow
  • Maple
  • American Elm
  • Pagoda Dogwood
  • Shagbark Hickory
  • Cypress
  • Downy Serviceberry

If you are looking for a tree that has the highest yield of them all, you'll want to plant American Elms. They typically produce about three times more useable wood than the other trees on this list.

How to plant trees in Farming Simulator 22

To plant trees in Farming Simulator 22, you'll need to first go to the store and buy tree saplings from the pallets tab. The pallets tab can be found under objects.

Once you have your trees, you'll also need to get a Damcon PL-75 (found in the forestry equipment section) and a tractor that can pull it. Trees don't need a plowed field, water, or fertilizer. Simply load the trees up, head to where you want them, and plant the trees. After that, wait the requisite amount of time before cutting them down.

We recommend planting trees in areas that aren't suited for other types of fields. This way, you can still make money from your other fields while utilizing space that can't manage other crops.

Once your trees are fully grown, you can cut them down with a chainsaw. We recommend the Rottne H21D for cutting down trees.

How to sell lumber in FS22

After you've cut down your trees, head to the carpentry shop if you have it. The carpentry shop will turn your raw lumber into furniture that sells for about $3,000 per pallet. While it costs $60,000 to get the carpentry shop, it's a worthwhile investment, especially because the return on investment will open you up to creating a Sawmill (which costs $100,000).
