Unlike Final Fantasy 7 Remake, Rebirth’s weapon level upgrades are automatic. All you need to do is gather more SP to use in your Folio, and your weapon level will automatically go up.

Each upgrade unlocks Weapon Skills you can equip, similar to materia. They're passive upgrades. Some Weapon Skills can be placed on any weapon, while some are unique to the individual equipment.

Weapon Level is shared across a character’s weapons. So, if you want to increase its level, you need to collect more SP.

What is the Upgrade Weapons menu for?

The Upgrade Weapons menu is more of an SP summary page. It shows you how much SP you still have left and how much SP you need to collect before your weapon level goes up.

For instance, in the example above, Yuffie’s weapon level will go up when she has collected 110 SP.

How to get more SP in FF7 Rebirth

Gathering more SP in Rebirth is similar to how you gathered them in FF7 Remake: by obtaining manuscripts and defeating main story bosses, among others. The manuscripts can be bought from the Mog Houses across the map or obtained by completing certain quests.
