In total, four new minions were added to FFXIV. One of these minions is relatively easy to obtain, while the others are a bit more complicated.

The Wind-up Pupu minion is a small blue alien that appears in the Hildibrand quests. Unsurprisingly, this minion is unlocked by completing the Hildibrand questline. Specifically, the minion is a reward for the second and final part of this questline, Not from Around Here. Completing the quest will unlock the Wind-up Pupu minion.

To start the questline, make sure you’ve completed all the previous Hildibrand Adventures questlines and then head to Radz-at-Han (X: 11.4 Y: 11.5) to take part in Patch 6.45’s Somehow Further Hildibrand Adventures, starting with the quest By Agents Unknown.

How to unlock the Okuri Chochin minion in Final Fantasy XIV

The Okuri Chochin is a floating lantern minion, inspired by the yokai of Japanese mythology, and the Chochin lanterns. This minion, like several of the others added to this patch, is obtained from a chest within the Mount Rokkon Variant Dungeon.

However, the Okuri Chochin minion is also tradable and marketable, so you can grab this off the Market Board as well. However, you can expect to pay well in the range of several million Gil for it.

The Shiromaru minion, or the Ninja Dog, received a lot of hype before the patch release. Like the Okuri Chochin minion, it’s obtained from Mount Rokkon. It’s a random rare drop from the last chest, so you’ll probably have to run the Variant Dungeon a few times to make sure you get it. This minion is also tradeable and marketable, but again, watch out for that hefty price tag!

The Kuromaru minion is an adorable black Shiba Inu puppy that seems to be a variant of the Mameshiba minion. This one is also obtainable from the Mount Rokkon Variant Dungeon, with a random chance to drop from the end chest. Luckily, like the other Variant Dungeon minions, it's tradable and marketable, and can be bought for an exorbitant price if you have the Gil!
