In Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.45, Square Enix blessed players with a pair of new mounts: a big spooky lantern and a fearsome flying dog lion. We’ve got all the info on how to obtain them both, so keep reading to find out how to unlock the mounts added in FFXIV Patch 6.45.
How to unlock all Final Fantasy XIV Patch 6.45 mounts
The Burabura Chochin mount is relatively simple to unlock, while the Shishioji mount is more difficult. Both are linked to the new Variant Dungeon, Mount Rokkon. However, they are unlocked in slightly different ways.
How to unlock the Burabura Chochin Mount in Final Fantasy XIV
The Burabura Chochin Mount is a giant yōkai-inspired lantern with a devilish tongue. You can get this creepy-looking mount by completing all the Exorcism Records on Mount Rokkon and unlocking the Mononopeke achievement. There are 12 of these in total, and each is discovered by either defeating a boss, visiting a certain room in the dungeon, or just progressing through the Variant dungeon.
It’s not possible to get all the Exorcism Records in one run, so you’ll need to do two or three to get them all. Once you're done, simply go to your Achievements in the Character Menu and redeem the mount as a reward.
How to unlock the Shishioji mount in FFXIV
The Shishioji Mount is the giant flying lion/tiger/dog monster that was previewed ahead of the release of Patch 6.45. Of the two mounts, this one is harder to obtain. Its unlock item is a random drop from Another Mount Rokkon, the Criterion version of Mount Rokkon. However, as this is a dungeon that has to be done with other players, you’re stuck rolling against them if it drops.
Alternatively, you can trade 100 Shishu Coins to the Trissant in Old Sharlayan. Shishu Coins are earned by completing runs of Another Mount Rokkon, so the grind works similarly to Extreme Trial mounts.
This mount is also tradable, so in the unlikely situation you unlock more than one of it, you can sell it on the Market Board. This means it may be purchasable on the Market Board as well, but expect to pay millions of Gil for it.
