In FFXIV Patch 6.45, a brand new Variant Dungeon was added, Mount Rokkon. Variant Dungeons are branching-path dungeons that you can run multiple times, with or without NPCs, to grant you different endings and different bosses. Mount Rokkon sends you on a dangerous mission to explore a Hingan mystery. Here’s how to unlock the Mount Rokkon Variant Dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV.
FFXIV Mount Rokkon Guide - How to unlock the Mount Rokkon Dungeon in Final Fantasy XIV
Variant Dungeons are unique in that you don’t have to have completed the previous Variant Dungeon to unlock the new one. This means Mount Rokkon can be unlocked even if you haven’t completed The Sil'dihn Subterrane, the previous Variant Dungeon introduced in Patch 6.25.
The only requirements for unlocking the Mount Rokkon Variant Dungeon are as follows:
- Level 90 Disciple of War or Magic
- Have completed the main scenario quest “Endwalker”
- Have previously spoken with NPC Osmon in Old Sharlayan. X: 11.9 Y: 13.3 (The NPC that unlocks Guild Hunts in Old Sharlayan).
Once you’ve fulfilled these prerequisites, you can speak to the NPC Shallow Moor in Old Sharlayan (X:12.0 Y:13.3) to unlock Mount Rokkon. It's one quest and a few cutscenes, then it's off to the dungeon!

What are the rewards for completing the Mount Rokkon Dungeon?
Like The Sil'dihn Subterrane before it, Mount Rokkon has its own variety of currencies, called Shishu Coins and Rokkon Potsherds that you earn from running the dungeon and its more difficult versions. These can be traded for a huge number of items, including mounts, Orchestrion Rolls, Hairstyles, Fashion Accessories, and Emotes.
Additionally, you can earn rewards just by running the dungeon. Apart from the usual Tomestone rewards, there are minions, Triple Triad Cards, and even Fashion Accessories within the dungeon's chests. Finally, completing Mount Rokkon for the first time unlocks the Criterion and Savage variants of the dungeon, Another Mount Rokkon, and Another Mount Rokkon (Savage).
