As you progress through For The King 2 you will collect Lore points, which can be spent in the in-game Lore Store. One section offers Traits, including Tactician which gives the Tactics skill, but what does it do?
As a rogue-like tactical turn-based fantasy RPG, part of the joy for me is opening up new options for future runs. I’ve found Traits are a great addition to team members, so they’re definitely worth investigating.
What does the Tactics skill do in For the King II?
The Tactics skill gives the character of your choice a random chance (it seems to be around 30-50 percent chance per turn) to place a combat buff in one of the tiles on your side of the battlefield. A character that moves onto this tile (it's Golden with a crossed sword and axe in it) and attacks will gain a one-time +5 Attack Power for that action. More than one space can have a combat buff but it does not stay indefinitely, so make sure to move to it as soon as you can.
You can give one of your characters the Tactics skill by taking the Tactician Trait for them during the initial party setup. Each character can have one free trait, which is awesome because it doesn’t use any of their five gear points (it is in addition). However, also note that you’ll see enemies use this skill against you too!
How to get the Tactician Trait in For The Win 2
The reward of Trait unlocks seems to be random, and they come as you play the game. I had my first two traits (Tactician and Nimble) unlocked in my first couple of playthroughs. Both then cost an additional five Lore Points each to be able to use them.
