How to Open a Hero Cache in Fortnite

Cruising around town, you'll notice a new specific chest in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3, and that is a Hero Cache. You'll find these across POIs in random locations, so you can't go looking for them specifically. There are four different Hero Caches an you can only open them if you are a specific rank. If you are rank C but come across a rank S cache, you won't be able to open it, for example. Here's everything you can get in these special chests:

RankLoot
C Rank - Uncommon weapon
- Uncommon consumable
- Chance for a Boon
B Rank- Rare weapon
- Rare consumable
- High chance for a Boon
- Hero Item
A Rank- Epic weapon
- Epic consumable
- Guaranteed Boon
- Hero Item
S Rank- Legendary weapon
- Legendary consumable
- Guaranteed Boon
- Hero Item

After you reach a new rank, the corresponding Hero Caches will be marked on your map so you can know where to go. If you get the S+ Rank, then you don't need to go find a hero cache (there also isn't any). You will instantly get any Boons that you're missing. So how do you increase your rank?

How to increase your Hero Rank in Fortnite

Every match in Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 you will start as a C rank. That means your rank will reset after each match and every new match you'll have to work to build up your levels again. There are multiple ways you can do this:

ActionEXP
Elimination+150
Destroy Scout Spire+250
Survived Storm Phase+125
Goon Elimination+25

As mentioned above, with each rank up you'll get better items, weapons and boons which you can use to win a lovely chicken dinner.

What are Hero Items in Fortnite?

Hero Items are season specific Fortnite weapons and items which you can find across the map as well as in Hero Caches (higher-rank ones). Here's a list of all new weapons added in the season as well as those which will arrive later in the season so you can test them out and have fun with them. I know I certainly did with the Bass Boost.
