Port-a-Fort Release Date: April 11th, 2018

Update: The rarity of the Port-a-Fort was reduced from Epic to Rare in the 5.4 Fortnite patch.

The Port-a-Fort is a grenade like item that will instantly create a pretty large structure that is two 1x1s stacked on top of each other (door at the bottom) and on top are two ramps fanned outwards made from metal. It has the basic shape of a funnel, check out how it looks below.

Here's the teaser video that was featured by Epic:

It isn't immediately fully constructed, but is more like you just put down a metal wall or ramp. The middle of this is hollow and has a row of tires at the bottom against the doorless side. This allows you to jump on these and get to the top of the funnel. You can place a floor after you've jumped up to block off that as an entry point.

Port-a-Fort How-to Use

Throw it like a grenade! You actually get a visual of where and how it will construct when you are holding down the throw button. You can launch this thing pretty far, if you for whatever reason need to protect a friend or want to block someone off.

Port-a-Fort Where to Find It

You'll find this just about everywhere: floor loot, chests, and anywhere else you can imagine. It is rare (blue) rarity, and can be stacked up to 5 in the inventory.

Port-a-Fort Tips & Tricks

  • Land these on a downed teammate! It won't bring them up to where you are, but it will instantly protect your teammate from harm.
  • It's possible to use these as a bit of a diversion. Throw this down and they might expect you to be inside, you could then pop out somewhere else and take them by surprise.
  • This could be pretty strong in a build fight where you might have lost the high ground. You can instantly throw one of these down and potentially get the advantage back.
  • If you are in a building and someone is above you, then you can throw this down and it will breakthrough the structure you are in. These can be a good way to surprise your enemy.
