Hello, world! Wait, what now?

LEGO Fortnite is my favorite survival game of late, but I have seen many players struggle in the beginning without knowing what to do next. Here is the complete LEGO Fortnite Progression Guide to help you begin your survival adventure.

How to start playing LEGO Fortnite - Progression explained

There are several key points of the progression to look out for when starting your LEGO Fortnite adventure. As is the case in most survival games, you want to make sure to set up your village fully. This should be your first objective, as everyone needs a main base for operations and a place of respite.

To access the village upgrades menu, check out the village hub. It's a totem-like structure at the center of the village. There, you will have access to all the ingredients you need to upgrade your village, which enables the following:

  • Increases village capacity
  • Adds useful perks
  • Unlocks new recipes

In the beginning, the resource that will give you the most trouble is the Obsidian, a dark stone that spawns exclusively in Lava Caves. Obtaining Obsidian can be a bit tricky, especially for newer players, because it requires a bit of preparation.

How to get Tools in LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite has two types of tools you must obtain to advance in the world—Pickaxe and Axe. There are several rarity levels of both, and the higher the tier of the tool you have, the more resources you will be able to obtain with it. If you find a Rare-level resource with a Common pickaxe, you won't be able to get it, so higher-level Tools also enable you to get those higher-level resources.

Obtaining the basic Forest Axe in LEGO Fortnite requires you to have the following resources:

  • 3x Bone
  • 3x Wooden Rod

You can get both of these resources in the normal grasslands biome. Getting the Forest Axe is the foundation of in-game progression, as you will require this tool to obtain other tools, like the Pickaxe. To obtain a higher-rarity version of the Forest Axe, you will need to take it to a desert biome and obtain Fleetwood Rod.

Obtaining a Pickaxe in LEGO Fortnite requires you to have the following resources:

  • 3x Knotroot Rod
  • 3x Bone

You can easily obtain Bone in the grasslands biome, but to get the Knotroot Rod, you must go into the caves. At this point, you will need to be prepared to fight mobs. Caves are dangerous places where many enemy mobs spawn, so careful planning is the key to a successful raid.
