How to get more workforce in Frostpunk 2

To keep things running across all of your districts in Frostpunk 2's New London, your workforce is as important as the heat you produce for them. However, replacing some workers quickly is paramount if you find yourself losing some workers to the elements or other problems. Here's how to get more workforce in Frostpunk 2.

How to get more workers in Frostpunk 2

As soon as you start expanding New London at the beginning of Chapter 1, you start with several thousand workers who can be used for all manner of tasks, from frostbreaking the surrounding tundra to building a variety of Districts, researching ideas, scouting the Frostlands, keeping the heat on, and more.

Soon enough, when it comes to keeping New London and all of its production running through the worst of the volcanic winter (e.g. - Whiteouts), maintaining your workforce arguably becomes the biggest priority in the game. After all, not only do you need them to produce all of your vital necessities, but keeping workers alive keeps Tension low and Trust high.

Inevitably, however, the vicious cold will eventually claim some of your workers, and as your city's population grows along with its demands, you will eventually need more workers to help compensate. Thankfully, there are a few methods to boost your workforce, though we recommend using these very wisely, only as needed. For instance, you don't want to bring every source of fresh workers into the city right before a Whiteout storm, as you may very well end up losing them all to the weeks of extreme cold.

Passive Population Increase

The first method of recruiting more workers to New London is actually a passive one. As you continue to expand the city, a batch of new citizens will arrive periodically, usually a little over a thousand at a time. You'll receive a notification for it, and your workforce number will increase in tandem as well. Do be careful with your population increases, though, as demands for everything can easily spiral if you're not prepared.

Recruit from the Frostlands

To manually recruit more workers, however, your second option is to venture out into the Frostlands. To be able to do that, you need to have at least one Logistics District built at one of New London's three Old Waystations. These will give you Frostlander teams who are responsible for completing expeditions in regions around New London. The more Logistics Districts you build, the more Frostlander teams you'll have.

Once you have that, you'll want to send them to regions that indicate a population that can be recruited to New London. For example, regions like the Frozen Sea and The Meadow will have varying numbers of people (and workers) for you to invite to New London, denoted by a blue person icon (seen above). Once you agree to take them in, they'll make the journey to the city and soon a HUD notification will say that they've arrived.

Do be aware, however, that some population hubs you find in the Frostlands will have strings attached when it comes to recruiting them. Some will be noted with a Dangerous Threat Level, meaning that you risk losing Frostlander Teams if you send them there directly. To avoid, this build a Scout's Headquarters to help decrease Threat Levels.

Another example is the Wise Women found in the southern region of the Highlands are considered traitors by the Stalwarts, and your Relations with them will be slightly impacted if you bring them in.

Request Workers from Devoted Factions

One last option for a workforce increase in Frostpunk 2, though it isn't as reliable or consistent, is by having Devoted relations with at least one of the four Factions. At least once or twice, a choice pop-up will explain that your Devoted Faction wants to contribute more to the city as a show of support to the Steward, and one way is by offering more workers.

Research Dutiful Youth

One of the best ways to get extra workers is to research Dutiful Youth in Society research branch. This allows you to have more workers in general and allows you to recruit a large number of workers from time to time. This can change your fate, as you'll get many new workers instantly, allowing you to continue with city development.
