How online lobbies work in Gran Turismo 7

This is the multiplayer mode.

There is a lot that Grand Turismo 7 does for the online community. It's becoming more than just a racing simulation. Gran Turismo is becoming a place for racing enthusiasts to hang out and make friends.

There are two types of online lobbies: Meeting Places and Sports Mode. Meeting Places allow players to invite friends by entering or creating rooms. This is essentially a private lobby where players can chat, hang out, and invite friends to a race. In addition, you can alter settings such as race type, track selection, and car restriction within the Meeting Place creator, just like in most private lobbies.

Sport Mode is essentially a competitive multiplayer mode. You will find competitive races, limited-time events, and championships here. These are not like Meeting Places, as they feature skill-based matching, and you cannot invite friends. Even though you can earn credits by participating in these modes, Sports Modes are primarily focused on improving your Driver Rating.

Driver Ratings are similar to rankings, except they keep track of your overall skill level and speed. As in other games, this ranking system determines who you play against. A skill-based matchmaking system maintains fairness in games and prevents players from facing opponents who are too skilled.
