After months of speculation and rumors, the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy - The Definitive Edition was officially announced on Oct. 8. The collection is published by Rockstar games, though developed by Rockstar and Grove Street Games. A new trailer was then released later in the month that revealed official gameplay footage and release date.
GTA: The Trilogy is slated to release digitally on Nov. 11 for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, PC, and the Nintendo Switch. Physical copies of the game will be available starting on Dec. 7. Despite earlier reports suggesting the collection could be $70, the collection is listed as being only $59.99.
The trilogy will come with enhanced versions of the iconic Grand Theft Auto games from the PlayStation 2 era—Grand Theft Auto III, Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. The games are not straight-up remakes built from the ground up. The collection contains more of a polished version of the PS2 titles, with cleaner graphics and improved controls. The collection will incorporate mechanics and control settings more common in recent GTA titles.
