World War 3 was first made available in October 2018 on Steam. That initial period of the indie game was more of a fundraiser campaign by the developers, The Farm 51. Players can now install and play the World War 3 Alpha starting September 27.
World War 3 is a multiplayer first-person shooter (FPS) game involving tactical military combat. The game draws inspiration from Battlefield franchise games such as Battlefield 3 and 4. On the contrary, this game will be free to play at launch, providing a more accessible Battlefield-like experience.
The World War 3 technical test is exclusive to players who purchased the early access version of the game in 2018. This is a gesture of gratitude from the developers to the early supporters of the game. Here's how you can pre-load and play the World War 3 Alpha:
- Launch Steam on your PC and head to Library.
- Look for 'World War 3 PTE' in the list of games. As mentioned earlier, you can only find this option if you purchased the game in early access.
- Press download to install the game and MY.GAMES launcher.
- Press play after the installation is complete.
- The servers for the Veteran Alpha Test will be up until October 4 at 5 pm Pacific Time (PT).
World War 3 offers a massive combined arms warfare setting involving weapons, drones, vehicles, and more. The game will witness several tests in the coming months. All players, even those who didn't purchase early access, will be able to play soon.
More details on the forthcoming playtests and World War 3 Beta will be shared soon. Here's the Steam link for the game if you want to wishlist it and stay updated.
