The Guardians of the Galaxy game is clearly going to be very different from Marvel's Avengers. While Square Enix publishes both games, Eidos Montreal has decided not to include DLC or any kind of live-service for players.
Once you beat the game, you're done. Marvel's Avengers, on the other hand, may have gone too far with live-service and not provided enough for base-game players. This is a game that has taken all the effort and time of Eidos Montreal to make at Gold Standard.
It's not to say there won't be patches, as mistakes happen, and it's become normal for developers to fix things that make the game unplayable. The "Day 1 patch," which every game seems to get these days, will most likely be in this game as well.
There will likely be mods for those who play on the PC, but this is all you will get if you play on consoles. It may change in the future if the game becomes more popular, but for now, the base game is all there is.
A new article will be written if there are rumors or leaks that Eidos Montreal will add more. Of course, we would love to see any kind of DLC that will let us play as the other Guardians or even as an Avenger.
