Should you choose Astrior or Fargrimr in Jarnvior Forest? – Hellblade 2

In one of the later chapters of Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, Senua, Astrior, Fargrimr and Thorgestr will find themselves having to make their way through Jarnvior forest. At one point, Senua will seemingly have to choose between Astrior or Fargrimr, but the consequences of that choice aren't clear. The good news is, it's not really that big a deal, so you can pick whoever you want.

Jarnvior forest choice in Senua's Saga: Hellblade 2, explained

As noted above, there's no actual right or wrong choice you can make here. There are no major consequences from choosing to save Astrior or Fargrimr here. In my playthrough, I went to Astrior who rejoiced when she saw Senua, noting she didn't think she'd see her again.

Shortly after this, Senua notes that they need to find Fargrim, who you can literally see on the other side of the lake. You can't turn back around and go the other route across the river to see him, but if you just carry on down the path you rejoined Astrior, Fargimr will just be waiting for you where the two paths meet.

It's a bit of an odd choice, to be honest, as there's seemingly no impact on the gameplay whoever you choose. My interpretation of this is that it's Senua's psychosis and the forest playing tricks on her, making the choice seem like a bigger problem than it really is, and in turn, putting that worry onto us as the player.

Rest assured, though, you can just pick whichever character you want and know that nothing bad is going to happen to whichever you don't choose to immediately regroup with.
